Your adventure begins with a short drive from your hotel in Kathmandu to the entrance of Nagarjun Forest Reserve (Fulbari Gate). After completing the entry formalities, the hike follows a well-maintained forest trail through dense pine, oak, and rhododendron forests.
The gradual uphill trail passes through peaceful woodlands rich in birdlife, butterflies, and occasional wildlife such as monkeys and deer. As you climb higher, the cool forest environment provides a relaxing escape from the city's noise.
The highlight of the hike is Jamacho Gumba, a serene Buddhist monastery perched on a hilltop at an elevation of approximately 2,128 meters. Nearby viewpoints offer spectacular panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and, on clear days, distant Himalayan peaks including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lakpa.
After spending time exploring the monastery and enjoying the scenery, you'll descend along the same trail before returning to Kathmandu.
Your Jamacho Day Hike begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu, followed by a short drive to the entrance of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park at Fulbari Gate. After obtaining the necessary entry permits, you'll begin a scenic uphill hike through dense forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron, where you may spot a variety of birds and wildlife along the way. After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, you'll reach the Jamacho View Tower (2,128 m), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and, on clear days, the Himalayan ranges including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu. After spending time enjoying the scenery and taking photographs, you'll descend along the same trail back to the park entrance before driving back to your hotel in Kathmandu, arriving in the late afternoon after a refreshing day immersed in nature.
